Jerseys arrive

Our preparation for our big tour continues. Last Saturday, the neighbors gave us some strange looks as we loaded our tandem onto the Yakima roof rack, even though the alley was coated in ice. Forrtunately, the day was sunny and mild. It could have been much colder! We  took the bike into Freewheel Bicycle, where we bought it and one of our favorite local bike stores, for its pre-tour tune up. Usually, I do the work myself but with all that's riding on this (pun intended), we thought a professional tune up is appropriate. It's always un transporting the bike in the snow. We hope the weather is better in April!
Also this week, our tour jerseys came, so you can get an idea of the places we'll be in April if you look at the back of the jersey. Pretty exciting. Now, we'll continue to work out indoors at the gym and spend time on the bikes to get in shape!

The beginning

Inspired by our son, blogging about his trips to the Holy Land (last year) and Rome (this year) and our daughter, blogging about her training and journey to becoming an ironman triathlete (you're amazing!), and enjoying them so much, and laying in bed last night at 2:30 am and unable to get back to sleep right away, it struck me: I could do the same thing with our planned trip of a lifetime--our tandem rally/paddleboat cruise from Memphis to New Orleans on the Mississippi river this April. So, here it goes...
